I certainly never need an excuse to bust out my fancy clothes and mix up a batch of French 75’s, but a Roaring 20’s party certainly gives me permission. Even though this wasn’t an official Halloween party, it was the perfect time to don costumes and bring ourselves back a few decades. Every guest in attendance actually dressed up, which I’m pretty sure was a first for me! There’s just something about putting on a suit that gets even the most laid-back guy a little bit excited (yep, I’m looking at you, Jim!).
I’ve worn this dress alone before for a Gatsby-themed party, but this time I decided to go all in and craft my own flapper headband. Don’t give me too much credit, though- I simply found two dangly pearl earrings, threaded them through a sparkly headband, and topped it all with the fascinator I wore for our 2010 wedding. It didn’t take much, but the end result made me feel quite festive! If you’re in a pinch for a Halloween costume tonight (not that such things EVER happens!), I highly recommend it.
I’ve mentioned the delicious magic of French 75’s before, but I will warn you that they’re definitely a double-edged sword. They’re so light and tasty that you can’t help but forget that they’re pretty darn potent. Seriously- we emptied the entire contents of a Costco bottle of Bombay Sapphire into that punch bowl. I mention that solely to excuse the declining quality of photography over the course over the evening 😉
Much love to our friends who made the night so festive and special! Especially with the holidays coming up, I have a feeling that we’ll be hosting many more of these events soon. Happy Halloween, everyone!
